In this project, Yuanhan Shen designed and built a series of printers that could print the double-slit interference pattern with different mechanisms, so as to show: There could be more than one single correct understanding / explanation to what we perceive.

Dould-slit Interference Experiment was first conducted to prove light as a form of wave.

But as science developed, it was performed again and again, later as a proof that whether light is wave or particles depends on observing, and that the status of particles differs by observing, as a foundation of Quantum Mechanics.

Here in the project, the double-slit interference experiment is a symbol of the development of human’s cognition of nature.

For a simple phenomenon, we at different era give different interpretation. They may look against each other, but they can be all true at the same time, like microcosmic particles is not at one certain position, but appear as a cloud of probability.

 

There can be more than one single truth.

And one day, what we hold as true today will be overruled.
