MORE THAN A GLASS is a research and exhibition project around a rare large beaker found near the relics of Eindhoven Castle.

With great support of Erfgoedhuis Eindhoven, Yuanhan Shen conducted a research starting from this 16th - 17th century glass artefact, into the history of Eindhoven Castle, glass making, the reformation, Eighty Year's War, House of Hatsburg etc.  

 

​As a periodic publication, a little exhibition was hosted by St. Catharina Kerk during Dutch Design Week 2024 (Oct. 21st - 27th).

It showed the restoration of the beaker's fragments together with a replica by glass artist.

It introduced the Ravensdonck excavation and revealed old photos and findings of city archaeologists (Chap. #1), shared the history of glassmaking and what information we can read from the beaker (Chap. #2). Thanks to church administration, the show was kept after DDW and lasted till the end of February 2025.
